Arwen's meanderings

Hi everyone and welcome to my new blog. My name is Steve and i am the lucky owner of a John Welsford designed 'navigator' named Arwen. I built her over three years with the help of my father, father-in-law and two children. She was launched in August 2007 at Queen Anne's battery marina in the barbican area of Plymouth. This blog is a record of our voyages together around SW England.
Arwen has a YouTube channel of her own. Search "plymouthwelshboy".

Hoi Steve, been a bit busy with projects, other than boat building. Once they are cleared out of the way the Seagull will be finished soon. Then prepare for the next project. Also a Welsford, same size as PF but with cabin and long keel... That dream is getting stronger and stronger. The PF is behaving excellently on the water here. She can still do more than I feel like doing.

I'd quite like to build a penguin but I don't have the space, or the money, especially if I want to retire early!!

That's why I am thinking of the Pelegrin, a much simpler design but with the right dimensions. The only huge obstacle is the lead shoe... But I am starting to get some ideas to overcome it. Everything else seems as simple as the PF.

I miss building boats
I've mainly done kayaks, canoes and a seaway fisher highlander 12
Arwen was the first big proper boat I have done
But time, money, retirement travel plans......well there we go!
