Arwen's meanderings

Hi everyone and welcome to my dinghy cruising blog about my John Welsford designed 'navigator' named Arwen. Built over three years, Arwen was launched in August 2007. She is a standing lug yawl 14' 6" in length. This blog records our dinghy cruising voyages together around the coastal waters of SW England.
Arwen has an associated YouTube channel so visit www.YouTube.com/c/plymouthwelshboy to find our most recent cruises and click subscribe.
On this blog you will find posts about dinghy cruising locations, accounts of our voyages, maintenance tips and 'How to's' ranging from rigging standing lug sails and building galley boxes to using 'anchor buddies' and creating 'pilotage notes'. I hope you find something that inspires you to get out on the water in your boat. Drop us a comment and happy sailing.

Golant part 2

footsteps down to the sea

abandoned and/or neglected; but what a little sweetie

looking upstream; it goes up to Lostwithiel

shelter behind the causeway

a motley collection of boats

and I thought I had problems with anchors and bowsprits

I always feel so sad to see lovely boats so neglected and abandoned

some boats stay put for so long.......................

I think I'm in love with this house

Great place to take Arwen, afternoon sail up to Lerryn on the flood and back for afternoon tea at the hotel or down to the bright lights of Fowey.

Day sailing in a beautiful location and a comfortable hotel at night - hard to beat1

Yeah. It's on the agenda! I'm thinking a week somewhere around Fowey and sailing around Fowey; over to Charlestown and Mevagissy; maybe around to the Fal. I might launch in Fowey and take out at Falmouth somewhere.
Don't mind camp cruising - quite like that!
