Arwen's meanderings

Hi everyone and welcome to my dinghy cruising blog about my John Welsford designed 'navigator' named Arwen. Built over three years, Arwen was launched in August 2007. She is a standing lug yawl 14' 6" in length. This blog records our dinghy cruising voyages together around the coastal waters of SW England.
Arwen has an associated YouTube channel so visit www.YouTube.com/c/plymouthwelshboy to find our most recent cruises and click subscribe.
On this blog you will find posts about dinghy cruising locations, accounts of our voyages, maintenance tips and 'How to's' ranging from rigging standing lug sails and building galley boxes to using 'anchor buddies' and creating 'pilotage notes'. I hope you find something that inspires you to get out on the water in your boat. Drop us a comment and happy sailing.

It started so well

.......but ended in trauma. A twenty mile ride out on 'Stacey' our 1971 motovespa across the moors started the day. Wales losing by four points to South Africa. Traumatic. Deeply traumatic, especially when the boys played their hearts out.
Trauma!

Well, you can imagine how a Scotsman feels about the Ozzy game! The words "robbery" and "daylight" come to mind. Mustn't be bitter, though (or not much)...
Yours in mutual misery.

So feeling very sorry for you Stuart and your team played so brilliantly as well...thrilling stuff from Scotland and with fairness from Wales as well

As a Kiwi I was generally pleased at our result against France (Sweet success on a number of levels in terms of the French if you are a Kiwi) and look forward to what will probably be a NZ / Australia final - BUT - 'There is many a slip twixt cup and lip' - anything can happen and probably will.

My brother is dual nationality, kiwi and UK; I didntbfollow the kiwis much so focused on the home nations challenge. I wish them well. I'm struggling to extend the same to the Aussies at this moment in time!!!
