Arwen's meanderings

Hi everyone and welcome to my dinghy cruising blog about my John Welsford designed 'navigator' named Arwen. Built over three years, Arwen was launched in August 2007. She is a standing lug yawl 14' 6" in length. This blog records our dinghy cruising voyages together around the coastal waters of SW England.
Arwen has an associated YouTube channel so visit www.YouTube.com/c/plymouthwelshboy to find our most recent cruises and click subscribe.
On this blog you will find posts about dinghy cruising locations, accounts of our voyages, maintenance tips and 'How to's' ranging from rigging standing lug sails and building galley boxes to using 'anchor buddies' and creating 'pilotage notes'. I hope you find something that inspires you to get out on the water in your boat. Drop us a comment and happy sailing.

Drascombes

I sailed one today on a Cornish lake. It is a lovely boat although much longer, almost 21 feet than Arwen is (at 14'6").  I liked the boomless sail as well. A nice, easy to sail, well mannered boat. Impressed, very impressed indeed.

Hi Steve. Just a note to say I put a few more pictures of my navigator on jwbuilders site. My plans are in place to launch on the 5th of August. I spent a lot of time on your site getting ideas from Arwen. So thank you. Joe

Joe that is brilliant news. Congratulations. When you launch, please let me know and I hope you would allow me the privilege of posting a few photos and a short report on your maiden voyage. I try to make sure that Arwen's blog is as much about celebrating the launches and sails of other navigators worldwide as it is about Arwen.
Our warmest congratulations
Steve
